No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
Galgotias University was asked to vacate the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in Delhi after a controversy erupted over the display of a Chinese-made robotic dog at its stall. Following the directive, electrical power to the university’s pavilion was reportedly cut, and staff and students packed up and left the venue.
The row began after allegations surfaced that the university had showcased a Chinese Unitree Go2 robodog under the name “Orion,” suggesting it was developed by the institution. A video clip that went viral showed a faculty member introducing the robotic dog as an in-house development of the university’s Centre of Excellence, triggering sharp criticism. Authorities took immediate action after becoming aware of the claims, asking the university to vacate the summit. Sources indicated that the matter was taken seriously, with a clear message conveyed to all exhibitors about strict compliance and transparency at the high-profile event.
Amid mounting backlash, including criticism from political leaders who termed the episode a “national embarrassment,” Galgotias University issued a clarification stating it had never claimed to have built the robodog. The university also faced scrutiny over a ‘soccer drone’ displayed at the summit, which social media users alleged was an imported model rather than an indigenous creation.
